Risks of Not Being Financial Literate
In today's world, being financially literate is not just about giving them an edge, its about protecting them from serious financial misfortunes
Majority of adults in Asia worry about being poor and in need of money when they are retired (Prudential, 2015). This is also a problem among the more affluent. A study by HSBC revealed that almost 1 in 2 (42%) of affluent Asians surveyed said that they do not feel prepared for retirement.
Educating our children about the importance of savings & getting them to start young is essential to preventing them from feeling anxious about their later years.

What Your Child Learns
The only comprehensive program your child will need to master the topic of Financial Literacy
6-8 years old
In this youngest age group, we focus on introducing children to the concept of money and why we use it. We teach them that money helps us exchange goods and services, simplifying how people meet their needs and wants. This foundational understanding is crucial because it forms the basis for everything else they will learn about financial literacy. Getting this part precisely correct makes the rest of their learning journey easier and more intuitive. A strong foundation ensures they grasp more complex ideas later, making their financial knowledge solid and practical as they grow.
Some of the topics we cover:
-
Needs vs Wants
-
Savings & Money Jar
-
Value vs Price
-
Countries & Currencies
-
Banks
-
Borrowing & Lending
-
and many more...
The Magic Tools We Use
Financial Literacy is a highly practical domain, knowledge alone is insufficient. To inculcate the habits & social pressure defense in kids, we have developed a series of learning tools that will give the kids a wholesome & interactive learning experience. We are the only one who has done this.
Short & Simple lessons
Neuroscience has concluded that effective learning requires lessons to be short & concepts to be simplified. This facilitates practice & recall, which in turns makes learning effective.
Trivia Questions in Class
Our teachers are empowered with a large bank of trivia questions designed to assess a child's knowledge mastery and to provide the child with the repetitions & recall they need to master the topic.
Worksheets in Class
Studies in Neuroscience has discovered that a child who gets to apply & practice gets to spread the acquired knowledge across more areas of the brain. This greatly enhances a child's mastery of the knowledge. It also gives the child application opportunities that helps develop habits.
Learning Beyond Classroom
Time in classroom is limited & financial literacy is a lifelong skill. Inspired by this constraint, all MoneyTree students are given our DUMO mobile app. This app gives kids short lessons & trivia questions to continue with their self-learning. We have also made the experience fun & rewarding so kids are self motivated to learn.
Activities in Class
The only way to inculcate social pressure defense is through peers interactions. Our lessons incorporate classroom activities that allow kids to interact with peers on money topics. This allows them to build the social defenses they need.
Rewards & Recognition
Built-in to our classroom & mobile app is a meticulously designed rewards system that recognizes and rewards kids for their learning achievements. Inspired by Neuroscience studies, giving kids the strategic recognition & rewards keeps their neurotransmitters level optimal for knowledge acquisition & learning persistence.
